Day 29: • More bugfixing on Milkyway Pets. I need to be testing builds via WINE or my vm because otherwise stuff keeps breaking in production which is not a good look. Worked on Burning Rain in a huddle. • Got one :aoc: from day 6. It's not much but it was fun • Made some drawings for my website! • I downloaded the demo for UNBREAKABLE after Hex4 linked it and wow. I only played for like half an hour, but it felt like style was being injected directly into my veins. That's the level of cool I aspire to have in my games one day. Thinking a lot about the interactions between setting/aesthetics and story. • Also found the phone that I've been missing for most of the year. Turns out my mum put it in the back of a drawer and forgot about it :skulk: There's a few 2FA things it'll be nice to get back, but I don't really have a use for it now (especially as it's missing a power button)

day 28 of 50 days to 2026!!! I got to do a long study sesh with a few friends focusing on Calc and C++ which was fun. One of my friends ended up writing out a hilarious short story prompt for a program that we wrote to test all of our concepts. I also released bore today with a youtube video for it! It is a super fancy reverse proxy tunnel manager like ngrok but running entirely on my own infra! It is based around the open source frp software which is great on its own but a bit annoying to use in the oneshot command type way I was used to with ngrok. I wrapped the client cli in a nice gum interface and used nix to package it with a super fancy man page and shell completions! Bore also has a really cool dashboard at bore.dunkirk.sh which shows active tunnels and how much data has been transferred along them as well as a few other stats. It also has a really fancy 404 page which I'm quite proud of. Also working on my shell config I setup zmx which is a light weight tmux alternative that just keeps persistant sessions. It works quite well for my needs and I also set up ssh pooling so connections are next to instant now! I also did a bit of work on crush adding support for refreshing api keys whenever encountering 401 errors. I also whipped up a quick nix flake for it as well and got that working! www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ztWxaYOL7E

a cool project i've been working on, it's basically using Github repos as encrypted storage, and today i've tried my best to make the UI look good. The mobile experience is terrible and is something I'm wishing to improve. Here's the repo, and the demo repo! github.com/mebaddev/cipherfs github.com/mebaddev/cipherfs-demo

yikes I've gotten behind on these updates; here goes... Day 23 of 50 days to 2026 accompanied by the beleaguered days 21 and 22. The last few days have been busy but fun! I wrote and completed a battleship testing program (battleship.dunkirk.sh) for my uni's C++ end of term assignment. I implemented a geicko-2 rating system that ranks submissions over a period of round-robin style matches against the other submissions running 1000 matches for each pair. In early testing it works pretty well! I would love to test it at a large scale with the whole class but we shall see if thats possible. The submission workflow is also all over ssh with the awesome wish library from charmbracelet. I've been consistently working on AoC and made a little website 2025.aoc.dunkirk.sh with visualizations from days I find cool! It currently just has today's day 4 problem since it presented so well graphically. I also have a really pretty cli interface for running my solutions over at the tangled repo tangled.org/@dunkirk.sh/aoc-2025. I've also had to start the hard process of finalizing where I'm going to college next semester and all the fun headaches that come with that. Oh and last but not least I updated my dot files shell scripts to use gum and they look so pretty now!!!!

:50days: Day 14 & 15/50 I've finally fixed onedrive-proxy, now, each times it try to use the azure sdk it will verify if its token is valid and refresh it if needed (check files.mathiasd.fr/books 👀) I also setup up Halloy to connect to the IRC and wow irc is so cool when you know it, we should fully move to it /j I did a presentation at school about IP and IP protocol, it was cool but we had someone useless in our group (he couldn't even login). I read the 2nd chapter of Refactoring English which is great too! and i've secretly uploaded some IT resources from school's public drive to my 1drv :3c

Day 12 of :50days:: • Posted the Windows and Linux builds for Milkyway Pets in #C09EZSEMB16| in order to get some feedback before I ship it. I got a lot of feedback and have learnt a lot from getting it into the hands of other people for the first time. Some of the issues I've noticed: a. Use a makefile to automate the build process. Automated testing is hard to make work in this context, but it would also be useful. b. Improve the config experience: Already partially there! The program now looks for a config file in the same directory as the program, and the program come with a template for the config file. I'm considering moving away from TOML to something simpler and more forgiving with user errors. c. Get rid of the Space-to-toggle-window-decorations thing. It's confusing, and being able to drag the window should be the default on most platforms. It's still needed on Wayland, since they can't set their own position. d. Better error handling: Currently errors either get ignored or are printed to the console. The windows users found this a bit confusing since they aren't running it from the terminal, so a graphical error window would be useful. e. Better installation guide: When I finally ship this project, it needs to have a good guide to installation and usage, since running the program requires you to find both your Hackatime API key and a :milkyway: Session ID. Somebody had an issue with getting their sessionid cookie, but I couldn't replicate it. A backup method would be useful just in case. • Studied for my Japanese exam tomorrow. I focused on listening, which I've been neglecting up until now. I'm not feeling the greatest about tomorrow, but I'll give it my best shot :salute: • Did a practice exam for my licence test tomorrow and got a cool clean calm and collected 100% LETS GOOOO!! 💥 💥 ‼️ I'm either gonna sit the exam tomorrow or the day after, depending on how I'm feeling.

day 9 of 50 days to 2026! I got polar.sh completely working!!! I have a super cool checkout page and subscriptions all sync nicely :) I got a bunch of friends to also test the functionality of the site and got a few papercuts cleaned up! Also did a ton of work on the Murmur service and made that more reliable. More work to come on that front. Also had a fun time solving an LLM jailbreaking puzzle, saihaj sent me (thank you!), and worked on a battleship algorithm until my eyes felt like falling out. Turns out implementing a battleship program to play for you is way harder than I thought it would be. Definitely didn't forget what the docs said the output of move results was, and spent 3 hours tracing the code by hand, all to find out it was a bitwise operation that was needed to extract the actual result. Who me???

day seven! this day was actually wild: • coded for 2.7 Hackatime hrs on the game (it might not seem like much, but considering I had training and school from 8:15AM to 3:45PM that's pretty crazy) • pretty cool training, getting ready for a race this saturday got a lot of progress on my game (which I'm doing together with @KittyCat -- she's doing the art and maybe some coding as well)

Day 6 of :50days:! :yay: Today I: • FINALLY finished the system tray functionality for Milkyway Pets. I'm hoping to get this shipped by the end of the week, ahead of whatever the cool announcement next week will be. • Went to the AA to book my licence exam, forgot I had to have my passport on me. I also found out that the exam conditions wont be changing, so I'm hopefully gonna do it after my exams are over. • Reviewed the grammar structures that will appear in my Japanese exam. • Did some writing for my personal website. It didn't feel like it, but it's been a pretty productive day!

Hey everyone! Something really cool happened yesterday! Want to hear about it? I hope so, because I'm going to say it either way! I went to a local hackathon called Island Hacks which is hosted every year. I went to this same hackathon in September 2024, and had such a good time I looked for more hackathons, which eventually led me to discover Hack Club! It was basically the point when I stopped doing beginner courses and really started to code regularly and actually make projects. I've grown so much since then, from growing my html and (basically nonexistent) css and js skills to coding 100 hours on one project for #Juice, and designing PCBs in KiCad to running my own club with @Slloom , and so much more. I can't say I owe it all to Island Hacks - more organizations and people have been part of my journey than I can count - but it was definitely part of the start of it all. Anyway, I can tell more of my story later. Right now, I want to talk about yesterday's Island Hacks. It started at 9am with breakfast and a three-to-a-team puzzle/riddle thing through google form. I joined up with two girls named Amelia and Aria who were sitting at my table. After the first team completed it, they announced the theme: Make something that solves a problem of someone in your life. Both Amelia and Aria had never really coded before, so we stayed for the beginner's workshop that immediately followed. By the time it finished, we had a solid idea of what our project would be: A website that generates icebreaker questions to help you get to know someone. At the end of the day, we presented our website, and waited while the judges deliberated. And then something entirely unexpected happened. We won the Judges Choice Award!!! I never would have expected us to win. The project was certainly much better than the project my team had made last year, but there were a ton of cool projects this year - which I suppose makes the win even sweeter :) With that, let me just say a huge thank you to the Island Hacks team. They worked so hard to put this on, and I would highly recommend attending next year if you live in the bay area (find them at island-hacks.org). And of course, a shoutout to my amazing team. Our project would have not been possible without them: Aria did all the art, Amelia helped with function design and created the questions (60+ of them!), and I did most of the programming. They were both so much fun to work with! See the demo here: kerhylonkava.github.io/IcebergQuestions And the repo here: github.com/KerhylonKava/IcebergQuestions You can read the pitch Amelia wrote for it below if you want to :)
Have you ever struggled to really connect with someone?

In my family, we often have the problem of not knowing what kinds of questions to ask each other. We want to actually learn more about one another, but are too often faced with distraction or a lack of ideas. We want something that will be fun and actually tell us more.

That's why we created our website, Break the Ice.

The purpose of this website is to provide a fun and engaging way to get to know other people, through asking the right questions.

Our website generates questions in three levels. Basic questions, which help you learn about what's on the surface of a person, Mid-level questions, which offer ways to dive deeper and begin to understand them, and Deep questions, which provide thought provoking prompts to help grasp their core beliefs and identity.

Anyone can search up a list of "Get to know you questions" but wouldn't you rather have a website dedicated to their curation, with a fun command-on-click user experience? I sure would. We hope this website inspires more connection between people, without the barrier of brain fog.
If you take one thing away from this, go to a hackathon! They can be so much fun and they allow you to connect with people with similar interests who you might not otherwise meet. Anyway, thanks for reading! There was also a speaker panel, so I might post the advice I learned from that. Keep an eye out!

50 days challenge ❄️ Daily update #3 | Streak: 3 days :P Productive stuff I did for my goals • Well... my calc test grades came back and uh. Not great so I guess that doesn't really fulfill anything... I'm kinda bummed because I did 200+ practice problems, corrected my previous quiz, and made super detailed review guides for this one... but I documented my mistakes and also did today's problem set before class so I had some time to chill and process everything. I really want to make a comeback on the next test about integrals • Made a realistic plan to self-study AP stats that I might actually be able to follow :3 (screenshot is my current progress in Khan Academy) • I worked on the abstract for my small research project based on feedback from my project manager! • Ran a nice debate practice today and got to know my teammates some more • Finished my AP Bio homework before AP Bio class ended Nice stuff • I tried the green tea cake I mentioned in an earlier update! It's AWESOME • My friend 3D printed a box that can turn into a triangle and gave it to me which is super cool! The day is not over yet so I'm planning on grinding a lot for debate by working on my cases and prep! I will update here when I'm done either later tonight or tomorrow

50 days challenge ❄️ Daily update #2 | Streak: 2 days :3 Stuff I did for my goals • I solved 50+ integrals today and I'm finally getting it a little bit now (my last bit of work is attached where I absolutely lost my mind and doodled something random). In the mix: Riemann sums, trapezoid rules, definite integrals, limit definitions, using geometry to get the integrals, piecewise integrals, additive integral properties, and transformations... • I went to my university for an AIChE (american institute of chemical engineers) meetup and got a sticker + 2 free slices of pizza • Got 3,555 steps today cus it was very busy with my 5 credit hour chem class at uni Productive stuff in general (kind of fulfills goal #1 to work on what "serves me") • I took my AP Bio and Spanish tests today • I edited a video of my school's Diwali celebration which had hundreds of students involved during lunch! I'm an executive board member for the organizing club and it was really cool to see everything come together • I revised an abstract for a small research project I'm working on and coordinated with my team members on what to do next. It's about nanoparticles! • I wrapped up the student representative application I mentioned yesterday with 2 more big essays and revising the previous ones! Nice stuff • I am seriously behind on the apps that my friends are installing these days because I used to have an iPhone 6s and it wouldn't lemme download any apps because they upgraded iOS and I have full storage... but I got a refurb iPhone 14 because my previous phone crashed and wouldn't get any messages and its AWESOME • I downloaded Spotify today and man it is way more convenient than what I used to do by making playlists on YouTube on my computer... I have a debate tournament on Saturday so I have to lock in and work on a lot of prep tomorrow, wish me luck!

Day 2 update: Sadly I'm still sick and I didn't get as much as I wanted done. Did a small amount of prep for Parthenon this weekend. So excited! My sister baked cookies in my house for every attendee, so it smelled like cookies all day. Had a meeting with a partner to talk about some 2025 plans. I'm trying to get all the orgs that care about coding to align on helping people make actually real projects - and Hack Club can help with that. Did some thinking on dashboarding. We really need a good way to understand how all the current fall 2025 programs are tracking. We had that for summer and don't have that now. Reviewed our 990 before filing it and gave the last round of edits before it's submitted. Did a little bit of thinking on how to better surface and communicate awesome projects by Hack Clubbers. When you make an awesome project - whether you're a beginner or really advanced - you should feel super celebrated by the community. It's also important that projects are curated in some way for the community - or else it can feel like everything is slop. When the truth is if 20% of projects are not super high quality (everyone starts somewhere) but there are just a lot of projects overall, those 20% feel like 100% of the projects. I'm almost wondering if something like Hacker News but for Hack Clubber projects could be cool. Or some other way to explore really cool things. Here's one really cool project by a Hack Clubber for Summer of Making I saw for the first time today: github.com/SamoZ256/hydra And that's kind of all for today. Leaving at 6:30 AM tomorrow to drive to NYC for Parthenon. So excited!

Luca ( @Slloom ) and I hosted our first ever Hack Club meeting on 9/25! We had way more interest than we expected - 8 people! We handed out snacks and stickers, and then had everyone get Github, VS Code, Slack, and generally get set up to code. Then on 9/30 we hosted a Boba Drops Workshop, and had even more people come - 10! Almost everyone finished the workshop in the time they could stay for (1-2 hours). It was super rewarding to see people who had literally never touched coding in their lives code a website they were proud of! There were a few who themed their websites around their favorite video games, and another kept working on it after and came up to me yesterday with a second page with lots of poetry :) It was cool to see how what they were passionate about leaked into what hopefully will become a new passion! Doing the Boba Drops workshop reminded me that I have a website that I should work on, but so far I've only made minor changes (I've been really busy with schoolwork and I'm in the school play!), so I'll save an update on that for another time. Keep an eye out for a post on 10/10 when we do demos of the websites people made!

6/365: • book: color theory... honeslty i already knew it so i just threw some colors and moved on main course. so today i was at art shop and got myself some cool art supplies, wich inclued but are not limited to B2 pen, H6 pen (was intending on H3 [WHO PUT H6 IN H3 ;-;]), mecanical pencil AND CHARCOAL SET :DD (Holy shit i love it already, bit messy but worth it as black couldn't be more black, as well so fun to draw with as you can just let yourself go with the flow, HIGLY RECOMEND :DD) • Time: bout hour and half • Yap: As i said it was color theory in the book.. BUT IT'S BOORING so i decided to have fun with pencils that i just got, and IT WAS AWESOM :xxdd:, and drew some random things to test em out and at the end my big days work (i think it looks cool AF :blob_hype: [if you don't take the perspective as i simply can't it's too hard ;-;]), so yeah was sick to draw with charcoal FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE :))

3/365: Drawing some trees (actually one, mimic of a tree :xxdd:), i am gonna be honest i haven't used color in WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY to long so i am soo happy to see that i still have some good coloring in me :DD (used crayons since they were lying around from yesterday kek) Time: took me bout 1 podcast bout socialengineer (1hr 10min), 1 yt documentary (20min) and a bit of hard metal band logo solving vid (20min) so bout 1hr 50 mins :)) Yap: so in start i drew a tree and saw that few of the branches looked organic even, so i decided it's gonna be mimic tree :DD then drew everything using marker (took bout 1hr) then i saw crayons on my desk and had this urge to add color... so i wasted another hr just doing that :xxdd:, anyways i think the end result is super cool :)) (altho i still can't draw anything human shaped ;-;)

Today I discovered you can call golang functions from js using WASM and pkg.go.dev/syscall/js which is pretty cool. I think I'm going to try to make some sort of interactive colourful making thingy with it! I also worked some more on the #C096T301L2G| thing and made some actually nice wallpapers I think, like this one which is supposed to be fire-y colours

Starting to relearn electronics without the use of microcontrollers. I realized that I rely a little too much on random tutorials to tell me how to do a cool project on a microcontroller, and it hindered my ability to start projects on my own and actually learn what the freak is happening. I want to get to a point where i can make the things i normally would w a microcontroller, but with just transistors and logic gates. Very excited!!!

So this is such a cool usage! Ive seen how node-persist can struggle myself and this is sum i wanted to fix b4 V1 FOR SURE!!! :debot:

After my first scrapbook post yesterday, I thought it would be cool to add a page to my blog that lists these posts. So, after 2 hours of development, here it is. The posts are hidden in details tags, the last post is automatically opened, and the channel names are automatically changed to usable links. blog.mathiasd.fr/scrapbook
